WELCOME TO TROOP 409

WHERE SCOUTS GROW INTO LEADERS.

Troop 409 is a welcoming, family-supported Scouting America troop where youth take on real responsibility, build confidence and discover what they can accomplish together.

We meet Tuesdays at 7:00 PM in King, North Carolina. Prospective Scouts and families are always welcome to visit.

ADVENTURE STARTS HERE

OUTDOORS. SKILLS. FRIENDSHIP. SERVICE.

Scouts learn best by doing. Every outing gives them a new challenge, a stronger team and a story worth remembering.

CAMPING

Pitch tents, cook outdoors and build confidence through nights under the stars.

HIKING

Explore new trails, practice Leave No Trace and learn to travel safely as a team.

SCOUT SKILLS

Use knots, navigation, fire building, first aid and other practical skills in real situations.

SERVICE

Put the Scout Oath into action through meaningful service to neighbors and community.

SCOUT-LED LEADERSHIP

LEADERSHIP IS SOMETHING SCOUTS DO.

In Troop 409, Scouts learn leadership by doing. They plan, communicate, solve problems and guide one another, with trained adult leaders nearby to coach and support.

Every Scout has opportunities to grow—from speaking up in a patrol meeting to leading an activity or serving the whole troop.

THE PATROL METHOD

THE AWESOME SAUCE PATROL.

The patrol is a Scout’s team within the troop. Members camp, cook, learn and solve challenges together while choosing youth leaders who help the group succeed.

The Awesome Sauce Patrol gives Scouts a place to belong, contribute and practice leadership in a supportive setting.

SKILLS & ADVANCEMENT

PROGRESS WITH PURPOSE.

Scouts advance at their own pace by mastering useful skills, taking on new challenges and setting personal goals. Rank advancement and merit badges create a clear path while leaving room to explore individual interests.

The real reward is confidence and capability—knowing how to prepare, help others, solve problems and keep going when something is difficult.

SERVICE IN ACTION

MAKE A DIFFERENCE CLOSE TO HOME.

Service teaches Scouts to notice what their community needs and step forward to help. Troop 409 participates in projects such as Scouting for Food and other local efforts that turn good intentions into useful action.

PARENTS & ADULT LEADERSHIP

SUPPORT THAT HELPS SCOUTS SUCCEED.

Troop 409 is Scout-led and adult-supported. Trained leaders provide a safe framework, coach youth leaders and help every Scout take an appropriate next step.

Parents and caregivers strengthen the troop by sharing time, skills and encouragement. Scouting America Youth Protection policies guide all troop activities.
